Squirrels before working families?

Proving once again that Washington D.C. cannot be trusted with your money, MAD founder Amy Oliver reports on her blog that Congresswoman Betsy Markey, who represents Amy’s district in Colorado, suggested in a video presentation to the Western States Transportation Alliance that working families should pay more in taxes to fund roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects.

Amy reminds readers that while Markey seemed to suggest more in the gasoline tax, the Federal Highway Administration gave Arizona $1.25 million to build special bridges for squirrels.

On the government’s list of priority, it seems that squirrels come before working families.
