Branding Loveland
Branding Loveland
By Jeanette Koniecki
MAD synopsis: During the “worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,” the city of Loveland, CO, is spending $90,000 on consultants to help “brand” the sweetheart city.
The city of Loveland has approved the hiring of a consultant to give downtown Loveland a “brand name” to go along with the city’s name. This consultant will be paid $90,000 for work done this year (more will be paid if it goes on into next year). The money is coming from the new lodging tax. For some reason “The Sweetheart City” (which we have been for years) is not sufficient. One suggestion I have heard is “The SweetheART City”. Please $90,000 to capitolize three letters?

October 11th, 2010 at 3:46 amThis is ridiculous! The Sweetheart City is more than sufficient for our great city and the whole world knows us that way. $9000 to change it to the art gig is ludicrous and totally unnecessary! I for one am sick of the art gig here. Sculptures are great but I think we carry it a bit too far. Can I specify if use a local hotel NOT to use my portion of the lodging tax to fund this? LOL! Guess I need to write a letter or two to the editor.
