Cell Phones for Eiber

Cell Phones for Eiber Elementary

By Regan Benson

MAD synopsis: During August and September 2009, Eiber Elementary in Jefferson County spent $2384.10 on 4 iPhones.

I would like to share with you the purchase of 4 i phones and monthly service associated with these phones in an Elementary School in Jefferson County. You will see that Eiber Elementary is yet another school in Jefferson County receiving Title 1 Federal dollars as it has been identified as a school in need of improvement. There is a very large amount of general fund money through out the school district being used to purchase cell phones and maintain service for them. This is one very small example of general fund money being available in our Title schools for such frivolous purchases.

In summary, you will find in the supporting documentation a time line of CORA requests for these invoices, all through AT&T for the purchase of and monthly service of 4 i phones. Jefferson County Schools does not feel it necessary to identify how the phones were used or by who. The district maintains employment with Jeffco Schools is confidential information, this is not correct. You will find in the supporting documentation that a hand written note on one of the invoices indicates the account was closed on 8/27/10, but we still don’t know where the phones are.
